Mary Connealy’s book,
Over the Edge was the third book of the Kincaid Brides series. Although this is the third book of the
series, it can stand alone. I read the
book before the first two in the series and easily followed the story. It picks up where the other books left off,
but you won’t be lost if you only read this one. You won’t want to do that. I immediately read books one and two because
book three was so good. If you choose to
just read Over the Edge, you will
quickly be brought up to speed with the authors thorough recap. One improvement would have been to include
dialect of the time, but the lack of it doesn’t really take away from the
story. It was set shortly after the
civil war in Colorado City. Readers that
enjoy Cathy Hake or Karen Whitmeyer should really love this book. It was full of fighting, adventure, treasure,
surprise, suspense, and a wonderful ending.
I have read several accidental, arranged, and convenience marriage
books, but I have never read a forgotten marriage story like this one. It was a nice change of pace. My friend grabbed this book up as soon as I
finished it.
